The Department of Chemical Engineering was started in the year 2020 and has been providing a full-time B.Tech. Degree course in Chemical Engineering with an approved intake of 60 students. The department has all the necessary facilities with well-equipped laboratories. It is committed to planning and organizing various technical events, thereby nurturing the technical knowledge, practical skills, and overall potential of both faculty members and students.

Students are trained in problem-solving with analytical and abstract thinking by integrating the fundamental principles of Chemical Engineering, including Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, Chemical Kinetics, Process Calculations, Heat Transfer, Mass Transfer, and Process Control. The curriculum provides a balanced combination of theoretical concepts and practical applications required for the chemical and process industries.

Guest lectures are regularly organized by eminent personalities from industries and research institutions through the department association. These interactions provide students with valuable exposure to current industrial practices, emerging technologies, and recent developments in the field of Chemical Engineering.

The Department continues to lead and expand its academic, research, and technical activities in various directions. Experimental and computational facilities are continuously upgraded to support quality education, research, innovation, and industry-oriented learning, enabling students to meet the evolving demands of the chemical engineering profession.

Chemical Reaction Engineering Laboratory

The Chemical Reaction Engineering Laboratory provides students with practical knowledge of chemical reaction kinetics, reactor design, and process optimization. The laboratory bridges the gap between theoretical concepts and industrial applications by enabling students to study reaction rates, reactor performance, catalytic processes, and process safety using modern experimental setups.

Students gain hands-on experience with continuous and batch reactors while understanding residence time distribution, reaction mechanisms, non-ideal flow behavior, and reactor design principles. The laboratory also emphasizes process monitoring, data analysis, and optimization techniques used in modern chemical industries.

Technical Analysis Laboratory

The Technical Analysis Laboratory provides students with practical knowledge of instrumental analysis and chemical testing techniques used in process industries. The laboratory enables students to evaluate the physical and chemical properties of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using modern analytical instruments and standardized testing methods.

Students gain hands-on experience in fuel analysis, water quality testing, calorific value determination, viscosity measurement, spectrophotometric analysis, and environmental testing. The laboratory plays a vital role in quality control, process monitoring, and research activities.

Mechanical Operations Laboratory

The Mechanical Operations Laboratory provides practical exposure to particle technology, size reduction, filtration, screening, and solid-fluid separation processes used in chemical industries. Students learn the principles of handling, processing, and separation of particulate materials through industrial-scale equipment.

The laboratory enables students to understand crushing, grinding, classification, filtration, and particle size analysis techniques commonly employed in cement, pharmaceutical, food processing, mineral, and chemical industries.

Mass Transfer Laboratory

The Mass Transfer Laboratory provides practical exposure to separation processes, diffusion phenomena, absorption, extraction, distillation, evaporation, drying, and liquid-liquid mass transfer operations. Students gain a clear understanding of phase equilibrium, molecular diffusion, and industrial separation techniques used in chemical and process industries.

The laboratory enables students to perform experiments on mass transfer equipment and analyze transport mechanisms, process efficiency, and operational parameters essential for the design and optimization of modern chemical processing plants.

Heat Transfer Laboratory

The Heat Transfer Laboratory provides practical knowledge of conduction, convection, radiation, heat exchangers, evaporation, drying, and thermal conductivity. Students learn the principles of thermal energy transfer and evaluate the performance of industrial heat transfer equipment used in chemical process industries.

The laboratory helps students understand thermal design, energy conservation, process efficiency, and temperature control through hands-on experimentation with modern heat transfer equipment.

Placement

The Department of Chemical Engineering has an approved intake of 30 students. The department currently has an overall student strength of around 120 with a dedicated faculty strength of 6 members. A well-maintained department library with personality development and technical reference books supports students in enhancing both academic and professional competencies.

The department has talented students possessing excellent technical knowledge along with strong communication and interpersonal skills. More than twenty final-year students consistently maintain a CGPA of 7.5 and above without any history of arrears, while the remaining students also demonstrate commendable academic performance.

Being an autonomous institution, the department offers placement-oriented courses in addition to the regular curriculum. A dedicated one-credit Placement Training course is offered from the third semester to the sixth semester covering aptitude, logical reasoning, technical skills, group discussions, soft skills, communication, and personal interview preparation.

Students actively participate in national and international conferences, research activities, workshops, technical competitions, and professional events. They also exhibit excellent leadership qualities by organizing various technical and non-technical events within the institution.

The department is committed to producing industry-ready professionals equipped with the technical expertise, analytical thinking, communication skills, and professional ethics required by leading industries.
